Comanchero

BOWIE

The Comancheros were white men in northern and central New Mexico who conducted trade for a living with the nomadic plains tribes, often at designated areas. They were so named because the Comanche's in whose territory they traded, were considered their best customers.

The flat ground blade of D-2 tool steel is 1/4” X 2” X 10”. It has been sub-zero quenched and triple tempered to ~ Rc 60. The blade finish is a hand rubbed satin. The choil is my broken heart design. The top of the spine sports my hand filework in a vine pattern. The double guard is 303 stainless steel and has my filework in a rope pattern on the front edge. The spacers on the full tang are white fiber and stainless steel. The following handle section is Mammoth Ivory followed by Mammoth tooth. The handle pins are 3/32” stainless steel. The pommel is stainless steel with a rope pattern filework. The fileworked design attached to the center side of the guard is also stainless steel. The sheath is 7/8 oz. vegetable tanned leather dyed in a saddle tan color. The belt cross section is stitched in a “X” stitch pattern and serves as a background for the enlarged handle design emblem. The sheath is hand stitched with a saddle style stitch. The four fasteners at the top of the sheath are embossed and nickel plated as is the Concho at the sheath center.
