This is what you are etching into your knife.

There are immense design possibilities available today that can be etched into your knives.  If you have a black and white image that you want to etch into your knife like your initials, name and location, or a logo that you have on your mind I will help you bring it to life.

LOGO TIP

Your logo should represent you personally, in some way.  The meaning need only be known to you.  The logo is not for advertising purposes, it is entirely for the Knifemaker's identity, however, the advertising benefits will come about as your knife improves in craftsmanship and becomes well known because of it.  People will recognize whatever logo you decide on as the knife having been made by you and will give it an extra high value for that reason.  It is the only one in the entire World.  Examples for Name brand Recognition.... Nike Shoe Company, arrowhead, Bowie, Arrow, Gibraltar Mountains, Shamrock, Mc Donald' etc. Additional examples ...cattle brands, These symbols are used with your name...Arc your last name and put the symbol underneath it other options are vast, never ending.

For Instance, if you have three kids just LOGO SAMPLE  arc your name and keep count with the dots

Getting your artwork to me is as easy as a visit to the Post Office down the street or by sending it to me in an email.  Communicating an idea is as easy as a quick phone call, 407-568-5438

STENCIL TEST

I  overexposed  a stencil after I made it.  I placed it in direct Florida sunshine at 90 degree plus temperature.  It remained outside for two days and experienced two rain storms, one each day.  I then etched the logo into a piece of low carbon stainless steel  It etched excellent even after heavy sunshine exposure.  The left side in the picture is the standard blue color because I had the sheet of stencil being held down under a brick.  That way I did not have to chase it down during a severe lightning rain storm.  Added test suggested by a Knifemaker's Guild member.  He is constantly thinking on a very high artistic level.  I ran the stencil over with my pickup truck and got the same image etch result.  Do not try this on your own...... repeated  tests will generate damage to the stencil or a flat tire.

Below are some of my customer's logos that I have had the opportunity to make into a stencil image.  The block of images in the box on the left will give you an idea of the stencil sheet that I can make for you.  The number of images on one stencil sheet depends on the image size and the image borders that are required by the Knifemaker, it generally works out to be 10 or 12 images per sheet.

LOGO USAGE OPTION

This picture shows where you may want to easily put your new logo to work for you.  It is simple to attach your logo to a couple of windows in your car/truck.  This is free advertising and will help you become famous in your neighborhood.  Just go down to your local Office Supply store and buy a  Windows Decal package by Avery.  Take it home and print your logo on it and pick a place to install it.  The white background was put behind the Logo to improve the picture.

EXPECTED NUMBER of ETCHINGS per IMAGE

Occasionally, I am asked about how many etchings can a Knifemaker expect from one image.  Below is a scrap piece of stainless steel that I easily etched 24 times.  This was done using one stencil image not the entire sheet of the same image.  I could easily etch 24 more but I ran out of steel.  Manufacturers that use this method to etch their parts get etchings in the hundreds per image.  Be aware that you can ruin the stencil image in one usage usually because of too much heat.  They will ripple at around 300 degrees. When you start to etch the logo into the blade make sure that it is a smooth area, 400 grit or finer and clean.  Clean means no oil, adhesive, wax or bubble gum.  It has to be clean because anything on the steel of the blade will cause limited current flow in that area.  That area will not etch well.
